In terms of detection methods, the current iron content detection mainly includes atomic absorption method and atomic emission method. Although atomic absorption spectroscopy is accurate, it is slow and complex to operate. Atomic emission spectroscopy has been widely used, but it cannot effectively detect large wear particles (whether it is a rotary electrode or inductive ion coupling). Not sensitive to large particles can sometimes be fatal in monitoring and diagnosis, as particles with normal wear of the friction pair are generally less than 10 μ m, while metal particles larger than 15 μ m are generated due to abnormal wear.
As for the detection of iron particles, the remedy is to increase iron monitoring and use Ferrous Debris Monitor. The Ferrous Debris Monitor developed by our company is a measuring device based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The measuring device is equipped with a sensitive electromagnetic coil. When the oil is placed in a magnetic field, the ferromagnetic abrasive particles in the oil will cause changes in the magnetic field intensity. The magnitude of the electromagnetic induction intensity of the coil is well correlated with the content of ferromagnetic abrasive particles. It can conveniently and quickly detect the content of ferromagnetic metal shavings in lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, and grease, thereby determining the mechanical wear condition.
